“To everything there is a season, A time for every purpose under heaven: A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck what is planted; A time to kill, And a time to heal; A time to break down, And a time to build up; A time to weep, And a time to laugh; A time to mourn, And a time to dance; A time to cast away stones, And a time to gather stones; A time to embrace, And a time to refrain from embracing;” Ecclesiastes 3:1-5

A JOURNEY THROUGH YOUR MEMORIES.

A JOURNEY THROUGH HERS.

IDOLUM is a narrative-driven, third person religious-themed psychological-horror RPG : following Tim, a young choir boy, and his journey in retrieving the one thing his late friend Lea left behind, after her mysterious disappearance from his life.

Help Tim find out what really went down that night, following him through scriptures and visions, in hopes of doing her justice.

...Without slipping out of God's good Graces, that is.

Right?

God, grant me the Serenity, to accept the things I can not change, Courage to change the things I can, and Wisdom to know the difference.

Uhhh, where do I even start...
i've waited so long for this demo and it didn't disappoint!
The writing is so unique and I love the direct references to christian culture. The story, for now, is still very vague and misterious, but I got some key questions I want to be answered that stimulate my curiosity enough to continue playing the next chapters.

The art direction and the music are outstanding, I truly have nothing to say but an applause.

Gameplay is simple but fun, and the map design is layered enough to make exploration entertaining.
Though, I'm looking forward to see more complicated puzzles (that don't require only to look carefully around the areas to be solved) and mechanics.

I think that's all. Overall, great game, try it if you can :)

tysm Ina this means a lot to us<3 we will surprise you even more once the first chapter is out

This is honestly incredible, the art is masterful and it's clear y'all put a lot of passion into this game, it has the potential to become something truly amazing.
Though, I have some constructive criticism for the game design:

First of all, most puzzles feel labyrinthine and frustrating, and while it may help the Alice in Wonderland feel the game has going for it, it doesn't make them very enjoyable. The worst offender by far has to be the platforms, i would suggest having some way for the player to have a clue as to where to go, because leaving them as a guessing game creates an experience that requires no skill and is not very fun.

Another gripe i have with the game design is the hand-holding, toning down on it may make the game feel more personal and interactive to the player and helps make the player feel less like they're stuck on rails and more like they're living the character and the world of the game.

I hope success comes your way because you all deserve it, the game is full of heart and passion and I'm sure it's going to blossom into a big name in the RPG maker community (and maybe even outside it!), best of luck and can't wait to play the full game!

thanks a lot for both the compliments and the constructive criticism! We will take note for sure! This was our first try at making an rpg so yeah there are some imperfections due to our lack of experience, but we’ll do our best to fix them and make the game more enjoyable! Again, tysm for letting us know the weak points of the demo!

I've waited so long for this game to come out, and the demo surely doesn't disappoint! I'll start by saying that it's unlike any other RPG you'll play, there are many original elements that really make it stand out. The characters are very quirky and charming (Efesto omg i love you so much), and I found the plot to be so intriguing that I literally couldn't get my eyes off the screen in some instances lol

The artstyle is unique and matches the main themes of the game quite amazingly, with the real world being almost monochromatic while "The Lands" are more colourful and saturated. The minigames/puzzles are lots of fun and very, very original! My personal favourite is the minecart puzzle (and I can tell the devs really had fun with the lake puzzle, wink wink)

The soundtrack is awesome, and together with the art it's the real forte of this game

I hope this project gets recognised, and will someday grow to be a cult classic in terms of indie RPG maker games. Congrats, and good luck!
